Accounting and HR Assistant
Position Type: Full Time, Hourly (Nonexempt)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, 1 hour lunch break
Reports To: Accountant
Location: In-person at our Durham, NC office

Primary Role Expectations
Accounting
• Provide backup for Accounts Payable Data Entry and Administrative Assistant when necessary
• Assist with maintaining vendor accounts
• Assist with equipment tracking and costing
• Maintain an orderly and accurate financial filing system
• Assist with the sales tax reporting
• Prepare general ledger account reconciliations as assigned
• Maintain updated policies and ensure compliance with all policies
• Provide backup for other accounting teammates
• Assist with other projects and duties assigned
Human Resources
• Build relationships with employees with a positive, friendly attitude to meet their needs and
expectations
• Assist with planning and implementing events and programs to enhance company culture

• Assist with maintaining HRIS system
• Assist with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, and termination
• Assist with group benefits enrollment and administration including health, PTO, and COBRA
administration and compliance
• Assisting with creation and maintenance of policy and procedure including employee handbook
and benefits manual
• Create and maintain accurate job descriptions
• Prepare accounting reports and reconciliations related to all payroll & HR functions
• Review time entry weekly for accurate payroll processing
• Assist with other projects and duties assigned
Experience & Requirements
• Ability to handle sensitive information with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy and maintain
100% confidentiality
• 3 years of some combination of experience and/or education in Accounting or HR field
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the
organization.
• The ability to elicit cooperation from various sources, including upper management and other
departments, and interact with multiple work behavior styles.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to research, analyze and retrieve data necessary to complete duties
• Skilled at managing time and multiple priorities to carry out assignments in a timely and thorough
manner
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with or the ability to quickly learn SharePoint, Sage 300CRE, hh2 Remote Payroll and
Document Flow, and Employee Navigator.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
• Walking, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, lifting, and kneeling are all required physical
aspects of the job
