Benefits Specialist: YMCA of Greater Charlotte

Under the direction of the Director of Employee Benefits and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Benefits Specialist is responsible for professional administrative, support to the Director of Employee Benefits. This position will assist in helping meet and exceed internal and external client expectations by supporting the employer sponsored benefits plans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

As a primary support / back-up to the Director of Employee Benefits providing administrative support to employee benefits programs such as medical, dental vision and retirement plans; life insurance plans; short-term and long-term disability plans and wellness program initiatives.
Responsible for compiling material per guidelines of annual requirements for eligible employees, in multiple branch locations, related to employer insurance benefit annual enrollments.
Ensures prompt and accurate ability to multitask and prioritize follow up responses to our employee group via email/phone calls.
Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Assist with benefit communication prior, during, and after open enrollment to ensure smooth process while providing professional assistance and/or directions to internal and external clients.
Assist employees regarding benefit claim issues and plan changes within the required time limits.
Organize and maintain Workers Compensation claim records, forms and annual required reporting, with attention to detail with the ability to work within Origami, (WC electronic reporting system).
Supports Director of Employee Benefits in delivering group benefit overview sessions and maintains all benefit summaries, booklets and forms.
Administration of FMLA forms upon request.
Record and track Leaves of Absence in HRIS system.
Accurate processing of 403B contributions and loans with bi-weekly reconciliation to the Y Retirement HRIS.
Responsible for administration of COBRA via third party administrator, electronic reporting system.
All other duties as assigned.
Attend any and all required weekly/monthly meetings as requested by Director of Employee Benefits virtually or in person as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma required.
Minimum 5 years experience working in some HR Administration capacity with 2 years experience in benefits administration a plus.
Self starter and quick learner with a strong attention to detail dependability and follow through, with the ability to work within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize time sensitive assignments.
Problem solver who can recognize an issue and develop a course of action to resolve quickly and efficiently, often in a fast paced environment.
Strong skill in the following areas: interpersonal communication, customer service, and organization.
Maintain the highest level of discretion, confidentiality and good judgment in all YMCA activities.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and keep sensitive information confidential
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
