HIRING RANGE: $70,000 – $90,000

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Quality Assurance Nurse will be responsible for evaluating all aspects of the systems of care provided by OIC FMC, identify problems, and develop solutions to ensure quality standards are met and processes are followed. Position will participate in QI activities as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Observe and evaluate existing quality practices, processes, policies, and procedures within OIC FMC.
· Ensures that documentation is maintained/archived in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
· Carefully document all activities, findings, and recommendations, reporting them to the Chief Nursing Executive and other pertinent OIC FMC staff as directed.
· Ensure staff are aware and understand expectations by developing action plans for any quality-related policy or process changes.
· Make recommendations and re-evaluate policies and procedures regularly to ensure changes and revisions are effective and quality standards are being met.
· Perform periodic review of medical charts, reporting findings and concerns.
· Periodically conduct follow-up interviews with a random sample of patients to identify perceived problems with care and report findings and recommendations.
· Communicates and participates in identified improvements as well as mitigation of potential care gaps.
· Monitor and work in collaboration with clinical staff, APPs and/or physicians to resolve clinical care gaps.
· Evaluates accuracy, completeness, and adequacy of data/reports from internal and external sources.
· Serve as an expert resource to all OIC IHS staff for issues related to Quality.
· Supports the review and approval of data and documentation for the preparation of annual reports
· Utilizes knowledge of regulatory requirements to identify, describe and communicate issues and participates in problem resolution and corrections.
· Initiates, tracks, and provides support for problem resolution as required through the Quality Management System and notifies necessary departments of issues.
· Supports and maintains an environment that fosters communication and teamwork within Quality Assurance and related departments.
· Maintain current knowledge base within relevant technical discipline of FDA regulations and awareness of the necessity and impact of compliance of the business.
· Organizes and facilitates activities for assigned projects as assigned.
· Attend Quality Improvement meetings regularly.
· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Valid RN license required with minimum of 2 years of experience in education, quality improvement and/or leadership role within a medical environment.
Preferred: Certified Case Manager (CCM) a plus.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong critical thinking skills; must be well-organized; strong project management skills; ability to multi-task; oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills; must be computer literate with proficiency with an electronic health record (EHR) as well as in computer software such as Microsoft Office; must be detail oriented as well as able to examine the organization, its systems, and processes at the macro-level.
