Q2 Unemployment Wage Reports Due by July 31 and Other Reminders
UI Claims System has a New Name: MyNCUIBenefits

It’s time to file second quarter unemployment wage reports or make payments. The deadline for second quarter 2024 wage reports is July 31, 2024.

The N.C. Division of Employment Security (DES) is collecting employee SOC codes and hours worked when quarterly wage reports are submitted. The Standard Occupational Classification, or SOC, is a federal standard coding system to help government agencies and businesses classify workers into occupational categories. These are helpful to have but not required.

Helpful reminders when filing:

  • There are four payment options in NCSUITS: check, credit card, ACH debit or ACH credit. ACH debit is the same as e-check or electronic funds transfer. If you pay by ACH debit, you can schedule a payment up to the quarter’s due date.
  • It is most efficient to use the CSV file format when uploading larger submissions.
  • DES has created the SOC Lookup Tool to help employers and agents search for and find their respective SOC Codes.
  • While a single debt of $5.00 or less will appear as debt in NCSUITS, DES does not collect on a single AR for less than $5.00.
  • To update your address, location(s), contact or ownership: go to Account Maintenance > Employer Maintenance. Email address(es) are required in NCSUITS.
  • To close or inactivate your account, go to Your Options > Account Maintenance > Employer Account > Inactivate Account > Follow the prompts.
  • Employers can add an agent in their Employer Account. Watch the video to learn how.

The North Carolina unemployment claims system also has a new name: MyNCUIBenefits. Branding the claims system will better serve employers by making it easier to find and recognize. The system and its functionality have not changed, and processing unemployment benefits will not be impacted by the new name.
