Working with Difficult People

Overview:

Anything taken to an extreme can be a liability, and this is true of human behavior. While confident, cautious, or energetic people can be perfectly tolerable in small doses, they can also be annoying or problematic when their behavior is over-the-top. It would be easy to say that to deal with difficult people you should be tolerant and accept people's differences. This sounds nice, and might work in the short term, but if you are working with people you find difficult and you expect to be working with them for some period of time – you are better off learning how to respond and relate to them. By learning how to focus on goals, give feedback, and manage conflict, you can work with difficult people more effectively.

Workplace Harassment Prevention for Employees, State of California

Overview:

Discrimination and harassment at work can have a corrosive effect on an organization's culture and can lead to low employee morale, reduced productivity, and even criminal liability. This course will provide an overview of the types of behaviors that can give rise to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims, including those based on sex, race, color, national origin, religion, age, and disability. It will also discuss the benefits of and strategies for promoting a respectful work environment that is free of all forms of harassment, intimidation, and discrimination. This course is designed specifically to address the sexual harassment training requirements for non-manager employees under California law. Additional customization is required in order to fully address the state requirements. This course was developed with subject matter support provided by the Potomac Law Group, PLLC. Workplace Laws for Managers and Supervisors

Supervisors and managers play a vital role in the success of an organization and its employees. Often times, however, they are not adequately equipped to properly handle the many workplace laws that affect the employment relationship. This class will focus on equal employment opportunity laws, wage and hour laws, and common law theories and case law that are relevant to managers and supervisors.

This program will assist your managers and supervisors in protecting themselves and your organization by helping them develop an awareness of the numerous and confusing workplace laws. They will learn how to balance leading their teams with the responsibilities that go hand in hand with ensuring compliance with workplace laws.

Employers must do what they reasonably can to ensure a safe and secure work environment. However, it is also the responsibility of every employee to be vigilant about security. This course covers ways employees can help reduce risks associated with physical security. It presents guidelines for controlling access to work areas and describes how to keep laptops, mobile devices, and other equipment secure, avoiding potential theft of such items. The course also covers general practices for ensuring physical safety, particularly for those who work alone.

Zoom: Creating, Joining & Managing Meetings

Overview:

Zoom is an online communication platform that you can access from its web page or by downloading the application. In this 10-video course, learners will discover how to use Zoom's different features to easily set up and hold meetings from home. Begin by discovering how to sign in and out of the application and explore the interface. This leads into learning how to create meetings, invite people, and examine the meeting features, along with scheduling, viewing, and managing meetings.

Next, learn how to install the Outlook plug-in and schedule meetings using the application; examine different ways to join a meeting, and manage participants; and study audio and video options, and the view mode. Learners will also discover how to share and annotate a screen as well as how to send and receive files; how to record, manage, and configure a meeting; how to send and receive messages; and how to save a chat.

The course concludes by demonstrating how to configure the general settings as well as audio, video, and screen settings.
