2024 aPHR™ Certification Self-Study Course: Digital & Print

The aPHR™ encompasses the foundation of human resource (HR) operations as practiced in the United States. As a young professional embarking on a new career in HR, the aPHR can give individuals the edge needed to jump to the top of the hiring list. It is an HR certification for professionals who are beginning their HR career or transitioning into the HR field.

The aPHR Certification was created in 2016 and is perfect for everyone from high school graduates to individuals beginning their HR career. The Certification is ideal for individuals who currently perform HR responsibilities, serve in an HR support role, or even serve in the Adjutant General Corps of the military and are looking to transition to a civilian HR position. Individuals with a High School diploma (or global equivalent) are eligible to sit for the exam. The exam is offered in the United States only.

A key role for any manager or supervisor is to ensure employees meet the expectations for appropriate and lawful conduct at work. Dealing with problematic behavior and taking disciplinary action can be stressful. But simply ignoring or avoiding problems is not an option because it may signal to employees that inappropriate behavior is acceptable. And mishandling disciplinary issues may result in employee claims of breach of contract, wrongful termination, or discrimination and retaliation. Consistent and fair procedures, honest communication, and clear expectations can help managers deal with disciplinary issues in a way that improves behavior with fewer negative repercussions.

This course explains the principles of effective employee discipline, including the concept of due process in the disciplinary procedure, and it describes how to respond to and document a disciplinary issue appropriately. This course will teach fundamental concepts and terminology of Adobe Acrobat. Participants will learn PDF basics and explore the Acrobat interface. They will learn how to create, navigate, and organize PDF documents, to modify PDF content by rearranging, editing, and formatting existing text; including adding headers, footers, watermarks, and backgrounds. They will explore document review techniques, including using comments and markups, adding bookmarks and links, and managing security issues by using password encryption and signatures.  

Prerequisites: The course requires that you are familiar with using personal computers and should be comfortable in the Windows environment and be able to use Windows to manage information on your computer.
