JOB TITLE: Billing Manager
STATUS: Exempt
Type: Full Time

The Billing Manager manages two (2) Billing Specialists and oversees the billing activities performed by the firm’s forty plus (40+) administrative assistants to generate more than 2,000 client bills per month. This position requires strong management skills, a customer service mindset, and the ability to provide hands-on training and assistance to all personnel performing billing activities for the firm. This position works closely with attorneys, paralegals, administrative assistants, the 3E Cloud system administrator, and accounting/billing personnel.

This role requires an in-office presence as the personnel performing billing duties are in-office. Occasional remote work will be considered. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Qualifications:
•A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years relevant high-volume legal billing management experience in a medium to large law firm. This is not a “first-time manager” position.
•Proficiency with a prevalent legal billing software system is required; experience with Elite 3E / 3E Cloud billing system is strongly preferred.
•Proficiency with Elite eBilling hub (or equivalent) and prevalent legal industry ebilling platforms such as CounselLink, Passport, Collaborati, etc. is required.
•Experience implementing software tools and/or workflow automation to eliminate or significantly reduce manual work effort.
•Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Strong Excel skills including the ability to export raw data from the billing system, pivot/analyze it and produce reports, analysis, tables, or charts as needed.
•Project management skills: leverages checklists/trackers, project plans, etc. as needed to manage, document, and monitor work.
•Exceptional communication skills: able to effectively manage expectations and explain complex issues clearly, concisely and using proper grammar and punctuation.
•Strong organizational skills: able to prioritize competing requests, stay on top of high service volumes, and manage expectations to prevent “status checks.”
•Able to maintain composure under time pressure and stress; quells “drama.”
•Ability to work overtime as needed. Other than firm designated holidays, paid time-off is not approved for the first business day of any month or the second half of December.
•Must work with discretion and maintain the absolute confidentiality of client matters.

Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline or equivalent related work experience.
•Advanced degree such as MBA is desirable, but not required.
