Great Managers Aren’t Born — They’re Trained

Promoting your best individual contributor into management and hoping they figure it out is the #1 cause of preventable employee turnover. Great managers aren’t instinctual — they need frameworks for performance conversations, documentation habits that protect the company, coaching skills that retain good employees, and enough employment law literacy to avoid costly mistakes.

Catapult HR leadership programs are built around real management scenarios — the kind your HR team gets pulled into every week. Led by certified HR practitioners who’ve handled these situations firsthand. Every level of manager walks away with skills they can apply Monday morning.

The Manager Impact You Can Measure

Leadership development that pays for itself in reduced turnover and fewer HR escalations.

👤

Fewer HR Escalations

Trained managers handle their own performance conversations, accommodation requests, and conflicts — reducing unnecessary HR involvement by 30-50%.

📈

Lower Turnover

Employees leave managers, not companies. Managers who coach, document, and communicate effectively retain their teams at significantly higher rates.

Reduced Legal Exposure

Managers who understand employment law basics make far fewer accidental mistakes that create disability, discrimination, or retaliation claims.

Client testimonial

“Before Catapult, our managers called HR every time they had to deal with a performance issue or difficult employee. After the workshop series, most of them handle it themselves — and they document it correctly. Our HR team went from firefighting to actually doing strategic work.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this program — answered by our certified HR practitioners.

Is this program appropriate for managers at all experience levels?
Yes — we offer distinct tracks for first-time managers, experienced mid-level managers, and senior leaders. Each track addresses the skills and challenges appropriate to that stage. We recommend starting with an assessment of your management population to determine which mix makes sense for your organization.
How is this different from generic management training we can find online?
Generic management training is written for the universal manager. Our programs are built by certified HR practitioners who’ve personally handled the employment law situations, terminations, and performance challenges your managers face. The case studies, role-plays, and frameworks are drawn from real the Southeast employer situations — not hypothetical scenarios from a national curriculum.
How long does a typical leadership development program run?
It depends on what you need. A focused half-day workshop on discipline and documentation can stand alone. A first-time manager series typically runs 4-8 weeks with bi-weekly sessions. A senior leader development cohort may run a full quarter. We’ll build a timeline that works for your team’s schedule and development goals.
Can we bring this training on-site to our location?
Yes. All workshop-format programs are available on-site at your facility or virtually for distributed teams. On-site delivery works well for cohort-based programs where you want managers learning alongside their peers. Virtual delivery works well for geographically distributed leadership teams.
Do HR staff earn recertification credit for facilitating or attending these programs?
Yes. HR professionals who attend qualifying sessions as participants earn HRCI and SHRM recertification credit. If you’re a CHRO or HR Director who attends the senior leader track as a faculty participant, you may also earn credits. We’ll document your attendance for your recertification portfolio.
