Payroll Compliance

Payroll compliance and support

Catapult supports the payroll you already run. We review time and entry data, help you close each cycle cleanly, and audit wage and hour compliance. We do not process payroll or file payroll taxes.

Where we help

Payroll is where compliance problems surface first. Catapult works the review and compliance side of it, alongside whatever system you already run.

Time and Entry Review

Before you close, we review timekeeping data for missing punches, unapproved overtime, hours coded to the wrong classification, and PTO that was never recorded. Catching these before close is far cheaper than correcting them after.

Payroll Close Support

We work alongside your team through the close, reviewing the register for anything that looks wrong and flagging it before the cycle is finalized.

Wage and Hour Audits

Exempt and non-exempt classification review, overtime calculation checks, and pay practice audits against federal and state law. This is employment law work, and it is what Catapult has always done.

Works With Your System

Keep the payroll provider you have. Catapult reviews and advises on top of it, so you are not migrating anything to work with us.

What we do not do

We would rather be direct about this than waste your time on a call. Catapult does not:

Process payroll or issue payments
Calculate or file federal, state, or local payroll taxes
Prepare W-2s or 1099s
Register or maintain state tax accounts
Administer wage garnishments
Reconcile payroll to your general ledger

Those functions belong with a payroll provider.

Payroll compliance questions

Does Catapult process payroll?
No. Catapult does not process payroll, issue payments, or file payroll taxes. We support the payroll system you already run by reviewing time and entry data, helping you close each cycle, and auditing wage and hour compliance.
Can Catapult file my payroll taxes?
No. Payroll tax calculation, filing, and year-end forms sit with your payroll provider. Catapult reviews pay practices for wage and hour compliance, which is a separate function and a different kind of risk.
What is a wage and hour audit?
A review of how your employees are classified as exempt or non-exempt, how overtime is calculated, and whether your pay practices match federal and state law. Misclassification is one of the most common and most expensive compliance failures an employer can carry.
Can Catapult work with the payroll provider we already have?
Yes. Catapult is provider-agnostic. We review and advise on top of whatever system you run, so there is nothing to migrate.
Do you handle unemployment claims?
Yes, as a separate service. Catapult responds to claims, prepares documentation, and represents employers at hearings. See unemployment claims management.
