Questions

Background screening FAQs

Is Catapult a licensed consumer reporting agency?
Yes. Catapult Services Corporation is an investigative agency licensed by the Private Protective Services Board of the State of North Carolina, corporate agency license BPN 001473P11M. Kevin von der Lippe is the named qualified agent, PI 2891. We operate as a consumer reporting agency under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Are your background checks FCRA compliant?
Every screening we run follows Fair Credit Reporting Act requirements, including disclosure and authorization, permissible purpose, and the pre-adverse and adverse action process. We give you the notices and timelines you need so your hiring decisions stand up to review.
What is Catapult’s relationship with the PBSA?
Catapult is a member of the Professional Background Screening Association. Membership and accreditation are two different things, and we describe ourselves only as a member agency.
Which states do you screen in?
We screen in all 50 states. Searches are run at the county, state, and federal level depending on the package you choose and where your candidate has lived and worked.
How much do background checks cost?
Pricing depends on which searches you run and your annual hiring volume, so we quote it per employer rather than publishing a single rate. Submit the form on this page and a specialist will come back to you with pricing and details.
Do you screen volunteers and students, not just employees?
Yes. We supply applicant screening for employment, volunteer, and student screening to authorized organizations under the conditions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Volunteer screening is typically scoped differently from employment screening.
What happens to the personal information we submit?
Personal information is transmitted and stored securely and is not transferred to third parties outside the United States or its territories, unless completing a report requires gathering information from outside the country, such as an international criminal check or an overseas employment or education record.
