Why it matters here

HR training challenges facing Albany teams

Albany’s employers compete for people inside a market of 170,894 private-sector jobs across Albany County (BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, 2025 annual averages, retrieved 2026-07-27). 93 percent of local establishments employ fewer than 50 people (Census County Business Patterns, 2023, retrieved 2026-07-27), which means people decisions usually sit with owners and line managers, not an HR department. That is exactly who our courses train.

$75,730

Average private-sector pay in Albany County (BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, 2025 annual averages, retrieved 2026-07-27). Keeping people at that pay starts with managers.

New York employment context

HR compliance for New York employers

New York sets the broadest harassment training mandate in the country. Under Labor Law section 201-g, every employer in the state, regardless of size, must give every employee interactive sexual harassment prevention training at least once a year, and part-time, seasonal and temporary workers all count. Training must meet or exceed the model published by the New York State Department of Labor and the Division of Human Rights, and online delivery qualifies only when it is genuinely interactive. New York City employers with 15 or more employees carry an additional annual training requirement under Local Law 96 of 2018, enforced by the NYC Commission on Human Rights. New York employers also generated 4,132 EEOC charge receipts in fiscal year 2025 (EEOC Table E1b, FY 2025, retrieved 2026-07-27), so completion records are not optional paperwork. Catapult’s live instructor-led online sessions meet the interactive standard and give every Albany attendee a completion record for the file.

Good to know

Albany HR training questions

Does online training satisfy New York’s harassment training requirement?

Yes, when it is interactive. New York accepts online training that includes questions, quizzes or a live question-and-answer element; passively watching a video does not qualify. Catapult’s live instructor-led webinars meet the interactivity standard, and each Albany attendee receives a completion record for the annual cycle.

Distance is not a barrier. All open-enrollment courses run live online, and Albany teams attend alongside peers nationwide. Session times are listed in Eastern Time, which matches Albany’s clock exactly. Private on-site delivery is the alternative when you want a room of your own people.

The catalog covers leadership and management, harassment prevention, professional development, technology skills and HRCI and SHRM certification prep. For Albany employers, demand concentrates where local employment does: health care accounts for 34,727 jobs in Albany County (BLS QCEW, 2025 annual averages).

Nearly all. HRCI and SHRM approval is listed on each course page, and completion certificates document your hours. If your team holds PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credentials, Catapult sessions slot directly into their recertification plans.

Yes. Catapult delivers private training for Albany organizations two ways: facilitators travel to your site, or run a live online session reserved for your team, scheduled around your calendar.
