Why it matters here

HR training challenges facing Dayton teams

Ohio employers posted job openings at an average monthly rate of 4.7 percent through 2025 (BLS JOLTS state estimates, retrieved 2026-07-27). Across the 221,179 private-sector jobs in Montgomery County (BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, 2025 annual averages, retrieved 2026-07-27), every unfilled seat adds load to the team that stays, and trained supervisors are what keeps that pressure from becoming turnover.

Ohio employment context

HR compliance for Ohio employers

Ohio does not require private employers to provide harassment prevention training. Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4112 prohibits employment discrimination and harassment at employers with 4 or more employees, a lower bar than federal Title VII’s 15, and is enforced by the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. Ohio employers generated 2,892 EEOC charge receipts in fiscal year 2025 (EEOC Table E1b, FY 2025, retrieved 2026-07-27), and a charge can be filed with either agency. With no statute setting a training standard, federal case law does: under the Faragher and Ellerth decisions, an employer that shows a genuine policy and documented supervisor training holds an affirmative defense to supervisor harassment claims. Catapult’s live online sessions give Dayton teams documented, instructor-led training with completion records for your files.

Local industries

Training for Dayton’s key industries

Measured, not guessed: private employers in Montgomery County reported 221,179 jobs in 2025, led by Health Care, Manufacturing, Retail and Hospitality and Food Service (BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, 2025 annual averages, retrieved 2026-07-27). Those are the workforces our facilitators train month in, month out.

Manufacturing

Average pay $71,104 in Montgomery County (BLS QCEW, 2025). The best machine operator becomes the shift lead, and nobody teaches the people half of the job.

Retail

Average pay $38,456 in Montgomery County (BLS QCEW, 2025). Young, seasonal workforces put coaching and scheduling judgment on the store manager.

Hospitality & Food Service

Average pay $23,951 in Montgomery County (BLS QCEW, 2025). Tips, late shifts and guest conduct make this the sector where complaints surface first.

Health Care

Average pay $66,706 in Montgomery County (BLS QCEW, 2025). Licensure, mandatory reporting and 24-hour scheduling make supervision a technical skill here.

Good to know

Dayton HR training questions

Can Dayton employees file harassment charges with both state and federal agencies?

Yes. Charges can be filed with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission under Chapter 4112 or with the EEOC under federal law, and the agencies cross-file. Ohio generated 2,892 EEOC charge receipts in fiscal year 2025. Trained managers who document complaints early protect Montgomery County employers on both tracks.

Yes. A Dayton team joins the same live online class as attendees anywhere in the country. The calendar is posted in Eastern Time, so a 9:00 AM Eastern start is 9:00 AM on the local clock. If you want a classroom, the in-person rooms are in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina.

Everything an HR team buys training for: compliance and harassment prevention, manager development, professional skills, technology and certification prep. Every course page lists upcoming dates, and any session can be run privately for a Dayton group, online or at your site.

Most do. Registration pages list the HRCI and SHRM credit for each course, and attendees receive completion records for their files. Both credentialing bodies run 3-year cycles, so steady attendance beats a deadline scramble every time.

Yes, and for cohorts of 10 or more it is usually the better buy. Catapult runs private sessions for Dayton employers live online or on-site, scheduled around shifts, with the same HRCI and SHRM credit and completion records as public sessions.
