HR training challenges facing District of Columbia teams
The District of Columbia’s private employers reported 515,126 jobs across 50,934 establishments in 2025 (BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, 2025 annual averages, retrieved 2026-07-27), with workers quitting at an average monthly rate of 1.8 percent in 2025 (BLS JOLTS state estimates, retrieved 2026-07-28). Good to know
District of Columbia HR training questions
Is sexual harassment training required in Washington, DC?
Only for some businesses. Employers of tipped wage workers, mainly restaurants and bars, must provide sexual harassment training under the Tipped Wage Workers Fairness Amendment Act, administered by the DC Office of Human Rights. Other DC employers face no training mandate but remain covered by the DC Human Rights Act at any size.
Employment law guidance reviewed by Karol Dixon, Senior HR Advisor, and Cindy Satter, Senior HR Advisor, SHRM-SCP, PHR. See Catapult HR Advisors.
Distance is not a barrier. All open-enrollment courses run live online, and DC teams attend alongside peers nationwide. Session times are listed in Eastern Time, which matches DC’s clock exactly. Private on-site delivery is the alternative when you want a room of your own people.
Leadership and management, harassment prevention and compliance, professional development, technology skills and HR certification prep, delivered live online or privately on-site. The compliance and frontline-management courses map directly to the people issues professional services employers around DC handle daily.
Most do. Courses list HRCI and SHRM credit on their registration pages, and attendees receive completion records for their recertification files. Both credentialing bodies work on 3-year cycles, so a steady course cadence beats a last-minute scramble.
Yes. Private delivery works two ways for DC organizations: a live online session reserved for your team, or facilitators on-site at your location. Content can be tailored to your policies, and scheduling follows your calendar.
