Why it matters here

HR training challenges facing Los Angeles teams

Los Angeles County counts 3,927,222 private-sector jobs (BLS Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, 2025 annual averages, retrieved 2026-07-27) spread over 304,988 employer establishments, and 96 percent of those establishments have fewer than 50 employees (Census County Business Patterns, 2023, retrieved 2026-07-27). Most run lean HR teams. When one manager mishandles a complaint, there is rarely a specialist down the hall to catch it.

California employment context

HR compliance for California employers

California employers with five or more employees must provide harassment prevention training: two hours for supervisors and one hour for non-supervisory employees, within six months of hire or promotion and every two years after. The requirement is set by Government Code section 12950.1 established by AB 1825 in 2004 and extended to smaller employers by SB 1343 in 2018 and enforced by the California Civil Rights Department. Seasonal and temporary staff must be trained within 30 calendar days of hire or 100 hours worked, whichever comes first, and live interactive webinar training satisfies the law. California employers also generated 4,750 EEOC charge receipts in fiscal year 2025 (EEOC Table E1b, FY 2025, retrieved 2026-07-27), so keep completion records for every employee. For Los Angeles employers, Catapult’s instructor-led online sessions satisfy the mandate and document completion.

Los Angeles HR training questions

Yes. California employers with 5 or more employees must train supervisors for 2 hours and non-supervisory staff for 1 hour, within 6 months of hire or promotion and every 2 years after, under Government Code section 12950.1. Catapult delivers compliant live online sessions to Los Angeles teams.

Distance is not a barrier. All open-enrollment courses run live online, and Los Angeles teams attend alongside peers nationwide. Because sessions are posted in Eastern Time, a noon Eastern start is a 9:00 AM seat locally. Private on-site delivery is the alternative when you want a room of your own people.

The compliance and frontline-management courses map directly to the people issues health care employers around Los Angeles handle daily.

Yes, most courses carry both HRCI and SHRM recertification credit. That matters locally: the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, CA area employs 36,850 HR specialists (BLS OEWS, May 2025), and each needs 60 recertification credits every 3 years. Completion records arrive after every session.
